eOrder - Installation and Configuration Guide Volume 4: Configuration Part 2 (Company Information and Testing)

Company Information

The e-mail confirmation includes an embedded order form with all of the information from the order. This email also contains information related to your company including a logo, company name, address, phone number, etc.

Your company information is stored in the orders.xsl file located in the "conf\xsl" subfolder in the installation path. This is a text file which you may edit with a source code editor such as Notepad++.

*Before making any changes to the orders.xsl file, please make a copy of the original file in case you need to revert to the original settings.

The "company" section of an unmodified orders.xsl file appears as follows, and items in BOLD will be the customization options:
**************************************************************************************************************************************************
<xsl:template name="company">

Logo

You need to have basic familiarity with HTML to properly define the logo and the Uniform Resource Location (URL) to which it is linked. The logo should be:
  • A PNG, JPEG or GIF image
  • No larger than 360px wide by 120px tall
  • Hosted on another server (for example: your website)
The attributes that you will change include:
  • href – the URL to which your customer will be directly if they click on the logo (for example: http://www.example.com)
  • src – the URL of the logo image (example: http://www.example.com/logo.png)
  • alt – alternate text if the logo image cannot be displayed (for example: Example Company Name)

Company

Your company name must be placed within the <span></span> tags, as shown above in BOLD.

Address

One or more <span></span> lines may be used to define your physical address, city, state, postal code, country, phone and fax number, as shown above in BOLD.

Links

One or more <a style=></a> lines may be used to define hyperlinks. For example, you may wish to include a link to your website, as well as an email address, as shown above in BOLD.

Feedback Button

The order forms displayed to your customers have a "Feedback" button in the bottom left corner. This must be changed to a URL specific to your company. You may configure this button to bring your customers to an online form, or to send you an e-mail message.

The feedback URL is stored in the WebAccess.xml file located in the "conf" subfolder in the installation path. This is a text file which you may edit with a source code editor such as Notepad++.

*Before making any changes to the WebAccess.xml file, please make a copy of the original file in case you need to revert to the original settings.

The "general" section of an unmodified WebAccess.xml file appears as follows:
*************************************************************************************************
  <general>
    <max-file-size>100</max-file-size>
    <block-file-types>BAT, EXE, JAR, JS, VBS</block-file-types>
    <allow-submit-no-files>false</allow-submit-no-files>
    <allow-submit-no-print>false</allow-submit-no-print>
    <allow-language-selection>false</allow-language-selection>
    <feedback-url>http://feedback.example.com</feedback-url>
  </general>
*************************************************************************************************
To change the URL, simply modify the text within the <feedback-url></feedback-url> tags. Use the example below as a model if you would prefer to receive feedback from your customers via e-mail:
*************************************************************************************************
  <general>
    <max-file-size>100</max-file-size>
    <block-file-types>BAT, EXE, JAR, JS, VBS</block-file-types>
    <allow-submit-no-files>false</allow-submit-no-files>
    <allow-submit-no-print>false</allow-submit-no-print>
    <allow-language-selection>false</allow-language-selection>
    <feedback-url>mailto:orders@example.com?subject=eOrder%20Feedback</feedback-url>
  </general>
*************************************************************************************************
*Please note that you must refresh your web browser after modifying the WebAccess.xml file for your changes to be visible.

Testing

You should now be ready to place your first test order. Launch the eOrder internet shortcut on your desktop. If Adobe Flash Player is not installed, the following message will appear in your web browser:

This content requires the latest Adobe Flash Player.

A link to download Adobe Flash Player is provided at the end of the message.

Don't be concerned about the lack of branding for the moment; that will be addressed in the Website Integration section.

With your first test, use an internal (company) e-mail address when filling out the order form.

When your order is complete, please verify the following items:
  • The folder structure under rootPath was populated as expected.
  • A confirmation e-mail was sent to the e-mail address specified in the order.
  • A copy of the confirmation e-mail was sent to the <to> address specified in SendMail.xml.
Place a second test order, but this time specify an external (perhaps personal) e-mail address when placing the order. The purpose of this test is to verify that your SMTP server is able to send mails outside of your company/domain. When your order is complete, please verify the following items:
  • The folder structure under rootPath was populated as expected.
  • A confirmation e-mail was sent to the e-mail address specified in the order.
  • A copy of the confirmation e-mail was sent to the <to> address specified in SendMail.xml.
Do not proceed with further configuration steps until both of these tests have been successfully completed. Please contact Customer Support if you need assistance.
